About Us

Built Different, on Purpose

Fewer clients. Deeper relationships. Bigger impact.
This is who we are and why it matters.

Most MSPs want more clients. We want fewer, better ones.
That is not a limitation. It is how we deliver results that actually matter.

Foundations First

We fix the infrastructure nobody wants to think about, so your team can focus on the work that moves the business forward.

Then We Build on Top

Automation, custom tools, and AI. Once the foundations are solid, we build the things that give you a genuine competitive edge.

Always Thinking Ahead

We are not just keeping the lights on. Every conversation is about where your business is going and how technology gets you there faster.

The Journey

People work with Grenadier because of who's behind it. This is my journey.

  1. Age 8

Wrote my first line of code on a ZX Spectrum. The start of a 30-year obsession with making computers do useful things.

  2. Age 13

Started building software in Visual Basic 3. The ZX Spectrum was fun, but this was where things got serious.

  3. Age 14

Built and delivered a booking system for a motorcycle training centre. First commercial project. First paying client. Age 14.

  4. Age 14-18

Became the unofficial second-in-command to the Head of IT at my secondary school. Deployed RM Networks, rolled out Windows 95/98 clients and NT servers, and was trusted with full admin rights. At 14.

  5. GCSE IT

Refused to build my coursework project in Microsoft Access like everyone else. Got special permission from the examination board to build a booking platform for a local dance production company in Visual Basic with an Access database backend instead. Even at 15, I wanted to build things properly.

  6. Age 16

Landed a work experience placement at a UK nuclear power station. Day one, they asked: "Do you know Borland Delphi and Paradox DB?" I didn't. By the end of the placement, I'd taught myself both and delivered their asset management software.

  7. Age 19

Landed my first full-time software engineering role in London. Skipped the university route and went straight into production code.

  8. Age 22

Joined a 15-person financial services firm as a developer. Left seven years later as Head of IT, leading a team of 10, having built the software and infrastructure behind a UK Government-authorised scheme protecting billions of pounds. The company grew 1,100% during that time.

  9. 2009

Founded Grenadier Computing. What started as a move into contracting became something much bigger.

  10. 2010-2020

Grenadier Computing was contracted by Bourne Leisure to design and build a CRM platform for Haven's caravan sales operation. Deployed across 35 parks nationwide and integrated with reservation systems, payment gateways, and operational systems, it helped drive a £50m increase in holiday home sales.

  11. 2021

The pandemic changed the landscape. Working with smaller leisure groups, the same pattern kept appearing: businesses wanted to move forward but their IT foundations were not ready. So the business pivoted. Fix the foundations first, then build on top of them.

  12. 2023

Hired our first employee. Small by design, not by accident.

  13. 2026

Launched the Pain Points Platform. Born from a 10-minute conversation with a client, it gives every team member a voice to surface the hidden inefficiencies that cost businesses thousands each year.

Meet the Team

A lot of what you've read so far is shaped by Gary. But Grenadier isn't a one-person operation.

Gary Goodson

Gary Goodson

Founder

Started coding at 8, landed his first commercial project at 14, and hasn't stopped since. From building enterprise platforms to running IT for ambitious businesses, Gary's happiest when he's making technology disappear into the background.

Dawn Goodson

Dawn Goodson

Business Administrator

15 years in the NHS taught Dawn that precision matters, whether it's blood transfusion or bookkeeping. She keeps Grenadier Computing running behind the scenes, so Gary and Harvey can focus on transforming yours.

Harvey Cave

Harvey Cave

IT Support Technician

Harvey ran IT single-handedly across three college sites before joining Grenadier Computing. Give him a problem and he'll figure it out, whether that's a firewall, a ticketing system, or something he's never seen before. That's just how he's wired.

Our Values

These aren't aspirations. They're descriptions of how we actually operate.

We understand your business, not just your technology.

Any competent tech can reset a password or configure a firewall. The difference is knowing why your business works the way it does, what matters most to the people using the systems, and where technology can actually move the needle. We take the time to learn that, because without it, we're just another supplier.

We tell you what we think.

If something's a bad idea, we'll say so. If there's a better option that does the job, we'll tell you about it. You're paying for honest advice, not reassurance. We take that seriously.

We get the details right.

Good IT doesn't leave loose ends. We build things properly the first time, document what we've done, and make sure the next person can pick it up without confusion. Whether that's you, us, or someone else entirely. Shortcuts cost more in the long run, and we'd rather spend the time upfront.

We manage risk, not just technology.

Most IT problems are predictable. We think carefully about what could go wrong. Security gaps, single points of failure, over-reliance on one system or one person. We build resilience in before things break, not after.

We keep pace with what's changing.

Technology moves quickly. We invest time in understanding where things are heading. AI, automation, security threats, licensing changes. The advice we give you is based on what is actually relevant now, not what was relevant three years ago.

We work quietly and reliably.

The best IT support is the kind you don't notice. Our goal is that your systems run, your people aren't interrupted, and issues get resolved before they become your problem. We don't need credit for that. It's just what we're here to do.
