Fewer clients, more attention.
A deliberate approach to IT that puts your business first.
Grenadier Computing is a technology partner based in Ashford, Kent.
We work with a focused number of clients, by design.
We look after the infrastructure so you don't have to.
We build the tools and automate the processes that hold your business back.
We help you make better decisions about where technology fits.
People work with Grenadier because of who's behind it. This is my journey.
Wrote my first line of code on a ZX Spectrum. The start of a 30-year obsession with making computers do useful things.
Started building software in Visual Basic 3. The ZX Spectrum was fun, but this was where things got serious.
Built and delivered a booking system for a motorcycle training centre. First commercial project. First paying client. Age 14.
Became the unofficial second-in-command to the Head of IT at my secondary school. Deployed RM Networks, rolled out Windows 95/98 clients and NT servers, and was trusted with full admin rights. At 14.
Refused to build my coursework project in Microsoft Access like everyone else. Got special permission from the examination board to build a booking platform for a local dance production company in Visual Basic with an Access database backend instead. Even at 15, I wanted to build things properly.
Landed a work experience placement at a UK nuclear power station. Day one, they asked: "Do you know Borland Delphi and Paradox DB?" I didn't. By the end of the placement, I'd taught myself both and delivered their asset management software.
Landed my first full-time software engineering role in London. Skipped the university route and went straight into production code.
Joined a 15-person financial services firm as a developer. Left seven years later as Head of IT, leading a team of 10, having built the software and infrastructure behind a UK Government-authorised scheme protecting billions of pounds. The company grew 1,100% during that time.
Founded Grenadier Computing. What started as a move into contracting became something much bigger.
Spent a decade embedded with one of the UK's largest holiday park operators. Designed and built a bespoke CRM platform, deployed it across 35 sites nationwide, and integrated it with booking engines, payment gateways, and operational systems. That platform helped drive a £50m increase in holiday home sales.
The pandemic changed the landscape. Working with smaller leisure groups, the same pattern kept appearing: businesses wanted to move forward but their IT foundations were not ready. So the business pivoted. Fix the foundations first, then build on top of them.
Hired our first employee. Small by design, not by accident.
A lot of what you've read so far is shaped by Gary. But Grenadier isn't a one-person operation.
Founder
Started coding at 8, landed his first commercial project at 14, and hasn't stopped since. From building enterprise platforms to running IT for growing businesses, Gary's happiest when he's making technology disappear into the background.
Business Administrator
15 years in the NHS taught Dawn that precision matters, whether it's blood transfusion or bookkeeping. She keeps Grenadier Computing running behind the scenes, so Gary and Harvey can focus on transforming yours.
IT Support Technician
Harvey ran IT single-handedly across three college sites before joining Grenadier Computing. Give him a problem and he'll figure it out, whether that's a firewall, a ticketing system, or something he's never seen before. That's just how he's wired.
These aren't aspirations. They're descriptions of how we actually operate.
Any competent tech can reset a password or configure a firewall. The difference is knowing why your business works the way it does, what matters most to the people using the systems, and where technology can actually move the needle. We take the time to learn that, because without it, we're just another supplier.
If something's a bad idea, we'll say so. If there's a better option that does the job, we'll tell you about it. You're paying for honest advice, not reassurance. We take that seriously.
Good IT doesn't leave loose ends. We build things properly the first time, document what we've done, and make sure the next person can pick it up without confusion. Whether that's you, us, or someone else entirely. Shortcuts cost more in the long run, and we'd rather spend the time upfront.
Most IT problems are predictable. We think carefully about what could go wrong. Security gaps, single points of failure, over-reliance on one system or one person. We build resilience in before things break, not after.
Technology moves quickly. We invest time in understanding where things are heading. AI, automation, security threats, licensing changes. The advice we give you is based on what is actually relevant now, not what was relevant three years ago.
The best IT support is the kind you don't notice. Our goal is that your systems run, your people aren't interrupted, and issues get resolved before they become your problem. We don't need credit for that. It's just what we're here to do.
From colleagues, clients, and the people we support every day.
"Our revenue in holiday home sales was around 150 million. Today it is around 200 million. I can credit Gary with the huge role he played as we entered this growth period. He is unique. He has the ability to be versatile, whether client or customer, whether boardroom or office. Outstanding work."
"Received a call within 5 minutes of registering problem. Problem solved very quickly too! Harvey and Gary are always so lovely and very patient with us 'oldies' who are very baffled with today's technology!"
"Gary offers a fairly unique blend of skills and experience: solution design, architect and engineer. However the most useful attribute is his ability to understand the business challenge. Working together, we could fully understand requirements and produce both prototypes and working solutions in breathtaking short periods of time."
"Fantastic support from Harvey at GC. Patient, courteous, understanding and a troubleshooting guru! Service above and beyond."
"Gary made the project a breeze, from concept through to delivery. He is personable and explains everything in layperson's terms, which is imperative when the developer is talking through the technical details to a sales person. He has great knowledge of his field, a real can-do attitude and delivers on time."
"This is the kind of IT support I have been looking for. Gary is calm, methodical and so organised. He responds quickly and sorts out problems before they really become problems. I'd heartily recommend Gary and the team. I think I called him the Automation King this afternoon, so I'll add that here too."
"Gary has the unique ability to perceive the complexity of a business and cut through the smoke and mirrors that cloud everything, to get the ship back on course. He is your Digital Partner if you need help. A one-stop-shop for strategy and clarity in a complicated world."
"It is such a relief to have someone on the end of a phone to sort out any IT issues which are beyond me to sort out. I think your service is amazing."
"Grenadier helped me with a complex issue we had with the way the website displayed prices as a result of a change to our pricing strategy. Their knowledge and expertise in the holiday park industry and speed at which the solution was delivered was invaluable and hugely appreciated!"
"Great service and support as always. Always going above and beyond and a short call turned into a mini workshop where Gary pointed me in the right direction for loads of tips, tricks and tools that I think will really help me and my team."
"Gary is one of the most committed, forward thinking and creative IT professionals I have worked with. His knowledge extends across a wide range of technologies, both software and hardware. He is always happy to share his knowledge with others and I found him to be a great mentor."
"Cannot thank Gary enough as he went out of his way to help me even though it was after hours. I was really worried and he calmed me down and sorted the whole problem for me, even waiting nearly 2 hours for the scan to work before re-installing the programmes."
"Shout out to Harvey, on double checking a filtered quarantine request. Always keeping an eye on our security filters and ensuring that we know what it is we are requesting. Thanks Harvey!"
"Gary always developed with the guest and team in mind and always tried to develop technology that was easy to use, digitally friendly and could have enhancements delivered in a short space of time. He was always open to new ideas from non-techie team and would put into technology practice the visions of the team."
"The continued support offered by Gary and his team have proven again and again that Grenadier Computing really are focused on delivering a complete user support experience. From streamlining onboarding and training to maximising the value of software we already have. They have driven improvements to data and system security, and generated some serious savings along the way."
"I've worked with Gary at two different companies on the delivery of software development projects. Gary has to be one of the most enthusiastic and professional IT people you will meet. This is backed up with very good technical skills, and an ability to deliver projects quickly and accurately."
"Absolutely amazing service as always. Always there when you need them."
"This project has totally transformed the way we create and manage leads and contacts. Gary always accepted feedback from the teams working on the ground and evolved the program to suit."
