Gary's Journey
My first line of code was written.
Developed a booking system for a motorcycle training centre; my first commercial project and a lot more rewarding than a paper round!
Spent my summer holiday building software for a Nuclear Power Station.
Started my first full-time employed software developer job.
Joined a small financial services company as a software developer. Over 7 years I evolved that role into Head of IT, building the department from scratch, leading a team of 10, and architecting the software and infrastructure behind a UK Government-authorised scheme now protecting billions of pounds. During my time there, the company grew by 1,100%.
Founded Grenadier Computing.
Delivered countless technology projects for one of the UK's largest leisure operators, including designing and building a CRM platform deployed across 35 sites nationwide, integrating with booking systems, operational platforms, and payment gateways and helped drive a £50m increase in sales.
Started consulting with SME holiday park operators and kept seeing the same problem: businesses wanted to move forward with technology, but their foundations weren't ready. So I pivoted the business to include a managed service. Now I get those foundations right with our managed service, and then take them further.
Hired our first employee.
